Commission Process

I work with private clients to create unique pieces of free standing furniture.

The commission process starts with an initial discussion, I often visit the space that the piece will be going and work closely with the client to determine material palate, practical considerations, aesthetics and budget. With this information I sketch some ideas, which I then draw up on a CAD programme. This allows me to envisage the piece in 3 dimensions as well as to calculate measurements precisely.

I then present some initial ideas, at which point we can make adjustments and look in more detail at material samples and options, until we are agreed on the best solution for the brief. I usually finalise two or three options with slight variations in materials and detailing.

Once a design is confirmed, a 50% deposit allows me to purchase the necessary materials and to begin production. I take photographs at all key stages, keeping my client updated with progress and encourage visits to the workshop during production.

I ask for final payment before delivery, and will deliver your handcrafted furniture personally. I aim to provide a personal, honest service during which my clients can contact me at any time and are part of the process from start to finish.
