Fosse Collection
Fosse; a long, narrow trench or excavation, especially in a fortification.
The Fosse collection was inspired by a very practical feature of solid timber furniture. As wood shrinks and swells in response to its surroundings, often larger solid structures have a small gap or space to avoid the timber misshaping. This was used in the design of the Fosse dining table and desk, and subsequently became the identity for the entire collection. A 1mm shadow gap not only acts as a structural adjustment mechanism, it is also a distinctive aesthetic detail which is used to an advantage in this collection.
The Fosse Collection was shortlisted for the Wood Awards in 2014.
